Its time to start worring

Another humiliating defeat at the hands of chelsea, a 3-0 defeat to anyone is bad, let alone in your own back yard. Although some may argue 3-0 was not a true reflection of the game, not one sole can say we deserved to win that game, we was lacklustre, no creativity, minimal amount of flair, we just didnt look like scoring. We are certainly missing RVP and its only been a couple games. Eduardo looked the shadow of the shadow of himself, that is how bad he was, Arshavin was poor and Nasri didnt look a threat at all. This begs the question is Eduardo going to ever reach the heights he was threatning to reach before that horrific tackle against Birmingham the season before last. Fair enough we have to give the lad time, because a tackle like that is bound to take away something from any player, but how long can we give him before we accept the fact that Eduardo is no longer to cut it at the top level. Some may call this judgement based on one performance but i have long since felt this way about him. He looks off the pace, and severely lacking in confidence, hes touch is poor and the finishing is just not there. Maybe I should give him a bit longer to prove that me wrong, believe me i hope he does, because he was a great player and he has done remarkably well to even come back from an injury like that, but I must say i definetly have my doubts.

Its evident from today's performance that we certainly need a replacement for RVP. We need someone we can depend on, and not someone who is going to take a couple years to adjust, we need instant results. The board say the money is there and I think it is about time Wenger pulls out the checkbook and signs someone. He gambled on Arshavin, and so far that gamble has payed off(except for todays performance). David Villa wants out of Valencia, why not sign him ? He is a proven quality striker, why do we as Arsenal fans not expect to sign these big name players, we are a big team and deserve to buy the best players available to the club. I would also go in for Yaya Toure. Dont get me wrong Alex Song has done great for the club, and has progressed so much in the past couple of season, especially this season, but we need an enforcer in midfield, someone who is going to be able to collectivally improve us defensively. This doesn't mean i would replace Song with Yaya but they could maybe even play in the same team. We cannot expect to compete with Chelsea and Man United with just our starting 11, we need people we can rely on when players get injured, Vela is too young and Eduardo just isn't the same person since the injury. As fans of Arsenal football club we deserve results and we deserve to see the best players at this football club.

  1. i agree, today was a wake up call that for arsenal to keep in the top 4 we need a few more experienced players who have played top flight football and know what to expect. Man U and Chelsea have strong players who stay with the ball; arsenal have no strong players (maybe with the exception being Gallas) - my point is thatwe are to easily dispossesed of the ball and that showed in front of goal today - Arsenal can still rescue the season and lets hope the game in hand pays off and chelsea drop points when drogba and the gang head to africa.

  2. lol who wouldn't want david villa? The team need to focus on punishing the opposition for giving up possession, before we were losing with convincing performances, yes2day was simply not good enough. If you don't defend against chelsea, you concede, simple as, no arguments there.

In terms of eduardo, maybe he best plays off of a striker (or coming off of the wing in the case of our 4-3-3 formation) yes it is worrying, but arsene just signed up eduardo to a new contract, I trust arsene's judgement.
